What Does It Mean To Be A USPA Dropzone

Friday, December 21, 2018

Two primary entities oversee skydiving operations in the United States: the USPA and the FAA. If the acronym doesn’t ring a bell, we’re here to help break it all down.

What is the USPA?

The United States Parachute Association is a non-profit organization of individuals responsible for disseminating information from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to the world of sport skydiving. Each year, the USPA publishes guidelines and recommendations to promote safe skydiving nationwide in the form of the Skydiver’s Information Manual. Both the USPA and the FAA rely on drop zones to self-regulate and enforce training and operational requirements. At Skydive Orange, we take the responsibility seriously.

Why Skydiving Is Great for Corporate Groups | Skydive Orange

Skydive Orange as a USPA Group Member Dropzone

The Group Member Program was a way for skydiving facilities to directly affiliate with the USPA. When a skydiving facility chooses to be a group member drop zone, they, in essence, make a promise to uphold the safety standards of the USPA.

Skydive Orange is the great drop zone serving Richmond, VA, Washington D.C, and the beautiful state of Virginia as a whole. As a group member of the USPA, Skydive Orange has made a pledge to adhere to the USPA’s Basic Safety Requirements, to use USPA certified instructors, to maintain and provide USPA required equipment, and to utilize USPA developed training instruction methods.
