The DeHavilland Twin Otter has many desirable safety characteristics that other commonly used skydiving aircraft lack. The Super Otter is a short takeoff and landing aircraft, and has very good flight characteristics at low airspeeds. That makes for a comfortable transition into the air for skydivers. The door is located far enough foreword so jumpers will not affect the Center of gravity adversely when they climb out. It was upgraded to an excellent set of -27 Turbine engines Spring 2002 so it is now a FAST CLIMBING Super Otter, hauling loads of up to 22 skydivers to over 13,500' at 20 minute intervals all day long on busy days. These things may not sound impressive to a novice skydiver, but for professional skydivers, these are things that allow us to concentrate on the business of skydiving without having to be distracted by the quirks of aircraft that were designed just to transport people from airport to airport without thought to the things skydivers care about.  But what this really means to you is that when you jump at Skydive Orange, you are jumping at one of the most active and safety conscious skydiving centers on the east coast, staffed with extremely knowledgeable instructors.
